The growing need for network support
Over the last five years there has been a dramatic change in the
market for maintenance and support of Local and Wide Area Enterprise
Networks. As users demand new powerful yet bandwidth intensive applications,
companies are replacing their legacy and often proprietary network
equipment with best of breed products from the likes of Cisco, Nortel
Networks and Lucent. Although these products are eminently more
reliable, the speed of change is bringing its own problems.
These complex multi-vendor networks are starting to suffer from
intermittent, hard to trace faults, decreases in performance and
software compatibility issues. Coupled with this is the rising cost
of skilled technical resource to manage these networks effectively.
Few companies have enough internal support to handle the day-to-day
issues never mind being able to pro-actively develop and improve
the network and review their longer-term strategy.
The increasing criticality of networks to businesses is also causing
companies to request faster response, guaranteed fix times and off
hours cover from the support providers. They also demand a whole
range of additional services. Rather than paying for simple hardware
maintenance as they have done in the past, organizations are now
looking for a complete support solution including multi-vendor maintenance,
independent technical advice and consultancy, network troubleshooting,
asset management and simplification of administration as well as
service level agreements and account reviews and reports of performance.
Advanced CompuNet has geared its whole support infrastructure to
provide companies with access to additional and specialist technical
resources, when and where they need them, as and integral part of
their support contract. Also, as their requirements change, they
can mix and match the range of support services they require.
Specialist Network Support
The increasing reliability of networking products has resulted
in a decline in the price that organizations are willing to pay
for basic hardware maintenance. Although critical network equipment
cannot be replaced as easily as desktop systems, due to connectivity
issues and software configurations, as the number of fault calls
decline organizations expect costs to fall as well.
Advanced CompuNet works with each customer to reduce their overall
network ownership costs while still enhancing the service through
the provision of increasingly specialist support services. These
additional services can be bundled into a network support contract
so there is only one fee to pay and should include all the support
services busy network managers need to maximize the performance
and availability of their networks.
Advanced CompuNet Network Services also focuses on providing information
to allow companies to make informed decisions on how best to develop
and enhance their networks. This can be through the provision of
technical advice, reports, recommendations and working sessions.
